Fr Mark Clavier

Priest in charge

Fr Mark has served in parishes in America, England, and Wales, and five years as a lecturer in theology at Cardiff and Oxford. He is also the author of a number of books, including his most recent book, A Pilgrimage of Paradoxes: an award-winning theological reflection on place and belonging based on an overnight walk on Cadair Idris. Besides serving as St Mary’s vicar, Fr Mark is also chaplain to the Bishop and Canon Theologian, which involves (among other things) his encouraging study and reflection throughout the Diocese.

He is an avid walker and mountain backpacker, especially when joined by his wife Sarah and their two Spaniels, Cuthbert and Humphrey. His son Paul is studying at Edinburgh University.
